    Baldur H. Vander
    Managing Director

    Baldur is Managing Director and a shareholder of EastMerchant Capital GmbH. He has been part of EastMerchant’s management since 1999. Baldur also holds the position of Chief Executive Officer of Crianza Aviation Ltd. He has closed more than 115 transactions with an asset value exceeding EUR 25 bn.

    In 1994 he moved to Sachsen LB, his latest position being Senior Vice President for Tax-Structured Finance. After graduating with a degree in Business Administration from the University of Cologne, Baldur joined the Leasing / Specialized Financing division of WestLB in 1993.

    Patrick Giese
    Managing Director

    Patrick is Managing Director and a shareholder of EastMerchant Capital GmbH. He is responsible for arranging aircraft purchase, lease and financing transactions, the structuring of funds and investment opportunities for asset managers and institutional investors as well as the asset and risk management required for this. Patrick is a member of the Board of Directors of Crianza Aviation Ltd. and a member of the International Society of Transport Aircraft Trading.

    From 1999 to 2009 Patrick primarily worked on cross-border leasing and transport financings as well as structured transactions at EastMerchant. Until 1999 he worked for Sachsen LB closing and managing cross-border lease financings as well as project and special financings for the public and municipal sector. Patrick obtained a degree in Business Administration.

  • Dietrich Zanger
    Dietrich Zanger

    Dietrich founded EastMerchant GmbH together with Gert Jan Staal in 1998, following a team spin-off from WestMerchant Bank Ltd., the former merchant bank of WestLB, Standard Chartered Bank and LBBW.

    There, he had managed the Structured Finance Division since 1992, with teams based in Düsseldorf and London. Previously, he had set up West LB’s project and special financing department in Düsseldorf. After completing his studies of Business Administration at Cologne University and his traineeship with Chase Manhattan Bank in London, he worked for Chase as a Corporate Client Relationship Manager through 1987 in Frankfurt and Düsseldorf.

  • Gert Staal
    Gert Staal

    Gert founded EastMerchant GmbH together with Dietrich Zanger, which followed a team spin-off from WestMerchant Bank Ltd., the former merchant bank of WestLB, Standard Chartered Bank and LBBW.

    He had worked in the company’s Structured Finance Division since 1991, concentrating on tax-optimized big ticket equipment leasing. Previously, he had directed WestLB’s cross-border leasing department. After completing his studies in Business Administration and Economics in the Netherlands and the US, Gert worked at Chase Manhattan Bank in London, Frankfurt and Düsseldorf between 1984 and 1987, where after his training he managed key corporate clients.
